On Tai (formerly known as Tai Yau On), Hong Kong local photographer, has been engaged in photography for more than 20 years.

He is a person who pays attention to details and quality. Since childhood, he has been obsessed with miniature things, coupled with his working relationship, and his dedication to details, he has gradually formed a love for making miniature art. In terms of the choice of subject matter, because of his childhood experience and his fascination with the old Hong Kong, On Tai is inseparable from the shadow of the old Hong Kong in terms of interest, work and artistic creation.

 

The purpose of On Tai's miniature art is to tell stories of the past through miniature artworks, to evoke memories of the past, and to pass on the feelings and culture of old Hong Kong from generation to generation. On Tai is still actively participating in various creations related to old Hong Kong, including installation art, product design, photography and art direction for films, so that more people can know the wisdom of the predecessors and continue to pass on the classics and traditions of old Hong Kong.

 

On Tai founded "Mini Movements" in 2017, a voluntary visit program with the theme of miniature art. "On Tai Mini Workshop" brings miniature works of art and a group of large and small work "into the house" to visit and share, hoping to share our inconvenience and "inseparable place" through the "micro-action" project "Personal care, and to promote hand-made miniature art to our next generations through lectures on campus visits and educational institutions...

The purpose of "Mini Movements" is to...use "micro" art to retain the most beautiful moments in Hong Kong, and then use "actions" to send warmth to people in need...they are not able to come to our exhibitions because of mobility difficulties, so we bring the art creations to visit them.

 

"Mini Movements" has been committed to using miniature art to visit different special people and elderly institutions, to provide services for people who "cannot do without the inherent place", and to convey love and care. By participating in community art creation, we provide an opportunity to walk out of the "inherent place" with them, to walk out of the community and participate in the community together.
